A councillor who has been suspended from the Labour Party has been charged with assault.
Cllr Haydar Ulus, who represents Haselbury ward on Enfield Borough Council, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an altercation earlier this year.
The incident is believed to have happened on February 20, three months before Mr Ulus was elected.
Principal of investment firm Ulus group, the 35-year-old is believed to have struck a man on three occasions following an argument.
Cllr Ulus has been suspended by the Labour Party, is currently acting as an independent councillor and will appear at Highbury Magistrates Court on October 2.
