Police have urged parents and children to be on their guard after a second attempted child abduction.

Two 11-year-old girls walking in Baker Street Enfield on Wednesday at around 8am noticed a man and a woman watching them from a white van.

The pair then got out of the van and followed the girls.

The man is described as mixed race or Mediterranean in appearance, with dark hair. He is believed to be in his 30s or 40s.

The girs also said he was walking in an unusual way, as if he had a limp.

The woman is described as white, in her late 30s, of medium build with very fair hair. She was wearing a white knitted jumper and had a small brown clutch bag.

The incident is the second similar event in two weeks. Two girls aged 11 and 16 were followed by a man and woman with a white transit van in Savoy Parade, Southbury Road, on Monday October 13 at around 4pm.

The man and woman were described as being in their 50s. The man is described as having cropped hair and the woman is described as having a bob-style haircut.

Officers from Edmonton have contacted schools in the borough and are warning children to remember the risk strangers can pose.

Detective Yasmin Lalani of Enfield CID said: “There could be other children who have been approached and didn't tell their parents or police, and I would urge them to contact police.”

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Healy said: “I would urge anyone who thinks they recognise these people to contact my team urgently.”

Anyone with information should call Enfield police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
