Two schoolboys heard their poetry read aloud by professional actors when they won a writing competition.
Mikolaj Blangiewicz Rafael and Mohammed Saaqib Tanwir Hussain came first and second in the 11 to 15 category of creative writing competition organised by writing organisation ReWrite.
The pair, both pupils at Highfield Primary School in Highfield Road, Winchmore Hill, took inspiration from prize-winning poet Cheryl Moskowitz, who was brought in by the school to improve pupils' creative writing.
Mikolaj, known as Miki, won top prize for his poem Visions of Hell with Saaqib taking second prize for his poem Death – A Criminal Terror.
Headteacher Maria Kemal said: “We are delighted that the outstanding writing of our children has been recognised and rewarded by such a prestigious association, Rewrite. Congratulations to Miki and Saaqib for being such wonderful ambassadors for Highfield Primary School."
The award winners heard their poems read by professional actors at the Lost Theatre, in Stockwell.
Their poems will be displayed at the Wiener Library in December.
