Enfield Council used the latest sports craze to showcase a new scheme to get more people exercising.

A zorb football match at Southbury Leisure Centre, in Southbury Road, Enfield, was the centrepiece of the authority's draft ‘active and creative’ strategy.

Enfield Borough Council is now calling for residents to comment on the scheme by February 18.

Cllr Rohini Simbodyal, said: “We want to get Enfield’s residents moving physically, socially and culturally so they can enrich their lives and be more active, happier, healthier and better off financially.

“We know it’s becoming increasingly difficult for people to find time to take part in activities, so we’re working really hard to make them available at times that suit residents and making them as accessible as possible so there really is no excuse not to get up and get involved.

“The services our culture and sport services provide can play an absolutely vital role in enriching the lives of residents and our aim is to make those activities an integral part of everyday life for everyone in the borough so that residents can reap the benefits and enjoy a better quality of life.”
