Thousands of students across North London have been given free tickets to a Shakespeare play.

Secondary school students from Barnet, Enfield, Harrow and Haringey have been offered free tickets to Shakespeare’s Globe on Bankside to see a production of Othello set in the First World War that was created for 11 to 18-year-olds.

In an annual project from Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe, every state secondary school in London and Birmingham is offered free tickets to see a Shakespeare play at the Globe.

More than 350 pupils from nine schools in Enfield have been offered tickets as part of the project.

Linda Hall, head of drama at Aylward Academy, said: “Our Year 10 students have never been out of Edmonton. We have a lot of traveller children, high pupil premium and many vulnerable children. Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank is a great and valued opportunity in an extremely deprived area.”
