A community transport group has been re-launched in a bid to keep the service running in the borough.

Enfield Community Transport is hoping its re-brand will give it added impetus to get more people using the service.

The transport service relies on volunteers driving the bus for people who need transport most in Enfield and re-launced at the Dugdale Centre, in LondoN Road, Enfield Town.

Leader of Enfield Borough Council Doug Taylor, who was part of a successful campaign in the 1990s to stop a law banning volunteer drivers of minibuses, gave a speech at the event.

He said: “I am delighted to support a service which greatly benefits the community. Enfield Community Transport relies upon volunteers and they thoroughly deserve the support of the council.”

Jeff Rodin, of the ECT, said: “The council has given us a grant which should help us be sustainable but to continue we need two things. We need more volunteers and we need people to continue using the service.

“People rely on us and we hope this re-brand can reignite the work we do for the community.”
