Two men have been arrested after thieves tried to break into a cash machine at a station.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with an incident in which police believe six men barricaded themselves into Enfield Chase station,in Windmill Hill, on Monday June 15, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded.

The men tried to get into the cash machine with power tools but were unsuccessful.

British Transport Police have also released another new CCTV photo showing two men in orange high-visibility overalls.

Rail company Great Northern is offering a £1,000 reward to anyone with information about the other four suspects.

Detective Inspector Karina Ghersinich said: “We continue to appeal for information from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area of Enfield Chase station after dark between Saturday, 13 June and Monday, 15 June. Any piece of information, however small, could prove crucial to this investigation.”

Great Northern spokesman Roger Perkins said: “Those responsible for this crime caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the station and a great deal of inconvenience for our passengers. We are offering a £1,000 reward for information which leads to the successful arrest and prosecution.”
