An 18th century obelisk marking the former boundary of Middlesex has been rebuilt.
The stone, in Southgate Green, was destroyed several years ago but has now been reinstated by Abacus Stonemasons following a campaign by Southgate Green Association.
There is believed to be one of two county boundary markers still standing in the borough.
A sketch 80 years ago showed the obelisk standing in Waterfall Road, Southgate, next to Ivy Cottage, which was demolished to make way for housing in Waterfall Close.
Chris Horner of the Southgate Green Association, said: “This is an example of how the local community by caring for their local environment and by investing their own time and money can preserve and improve it step by step for future generations.”
The SGA previously helped restore the 800 year old Minchenden Oak, which is said to date back to the time of the Magna Carta.
Mr Horner is now calling for anyone who knows of similar county boundary markers in the area to contact the SGA.
