The inquest into the death of Hannah Defoe, the cousin of footballer Jermain Defoe, is set to be heard this week.

The 20-year-old Enfield woman died after diving into the pool at Juliette’s Lodge hotel, in St Lucia in July 2012. Reports at the time said her aunt and cousin suffered electric shocks as they tried to save her.

The performing arts student was on holiday as a reward for her hard work during her first year at the Performers College in Essex when she died, three weeks before her 21st birthday.

The inquest has been adjourned four times, most recently in March this year but will now be heard at North London Coroners Court, in Barnet.

Former Spurs striker Defoe was on the club’s pre-season tour of America when he was told, and returned to the UK to be with his family.
