Five shots were fired by police killing a man in Enfield, it has been revealed.
James Fox was shot dead by police at his flat in Picardy House, Cidar Lane, Enfield, last Sunday after claims he had a firearm.
Investigators have now revealed that five shots were fired by two officers at the 43-year-old that killed Mr Fox.
Independent Police Complaints Commission Commissioner Cindy Butts said: “Our investigators are appealing for anyone with any information about this serious incident to contact the IPCC. The investigation is looking into the circumstances surrounding Mr Fox’s death and the actions of the police that evening.
“We have made contact with Mr Fox’s family to explain our role and how the investigation will progress.”
Investigators visited homes in the block of flats yesterday as they trawled through CCTV footage in the area and called for any witnesses to come forward.
The block was left in shock following the incident, with many describing Mr Fox as a “quiet” man.
A post-mortem was due to be carried out yesterday. An inquest into Mr Fox’s death is yet to open.
If anyone thinks they may have seen or heard anything in relation to the shooting they are asked to contact the IPCC on 0800 096 9070.
