Pupils’ donations to the poorest in the borough has more than doubled at the annual harvest festival collection.
Students from Highlands School, in Worlds End Lane, have been generous in giving food and goods to Enfield Food Bank.
As demands increases in the borough for the neediest, Highlands students and staff are aiming to raise awareness of poverty in Enfield as well as donate food and other items.
“It is so important, particularly in a relatively well off part of Enfield, that all of our students are aware of the inequalities that exist in our society, both locally and nationally.” Said Headtacher Bruce Goddard.
“Through our link with the Enfield Food bank, who do such a wonderful job, our students learn that many local families rely on gifts of food from the food bank just to survive on a daily basis.
“They always give generously, but this year the contributions have been overwhelming, more than doubling the collection last year. I am so proud of all within our school community.”
