Warnings have been made to the elderly following a spate of robberies.

Distraction burglaries have been on the rise in the Edmonton and Enfield Lock area during the past two months.

On September 30, in Harrow Drive, Edmonton, an elderly man was distracted by three men with one asking to see his drain cover in his back garden.

Whilst being led away to the back of the garden before he had shut his front door.

Remembering this, the victim went back to the front door to find two men coming down the stairs.

As he called for help, the three men got into a car and drove off, they had taken nothing.

All three are described as white with one said to be of stocky build between 30-40 and 5ft 10ins with short fair hair.

The other two were of slim building, aged in their 20st and 5ft 9ins tall. They were wearing jeans and jumpers.

Detective Constable Samantha James, from Enfield CID, said: "I would like to remind residents, especially the elderly, to always ask for identification before letting people into their homes.

“Treat every stranger with caution. If you are worried, dial 999 immediately and ask for the police."
