A faithful furry friend has been shortlisted for a best pet award.

Tilly, 11, who lives at Anchor’s Felix Neubergh retirement home, in Seaford Road, Enfield, with her owner Gloria Tuffey is in the running for an award at the Happy Living Awards.

The loyal companion was nominated for the Best Pet category.

Tilly works with old people and children after coming over from Cyprus to Enfield in 2010, where her owner had lived for 37 years.

Ms Tuffey said: “I am over the moon that Tilly is up for an award – she certainly brings happy living to me and my neighbours at Felix Neubergh House.

“Tilly is a great joy to everyone here – we all spoil her and she makes us laugh. We are so happy living here as everyone is so friendly and Tilly has a lovely garden to play in.”

Almost 300 nominations were sent in with six different categories up for grabs including Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

A customer panel will be coming together later this month to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in December.
