A man has died after being hit by a lorry on Great Cambridge Road.

The incident happened at around 2.45pm this afternoon on the A10 between Lincoln Road and the Crawley Road junction. The road remains closed southbound from Lincoln Road with severe delays still holding up motorists as far back as Carterhatch Lane.

An eyewitness, who was driving by the scene of the accident, saw the air ambulance land nearby.

She said: “There was a tent up, and around 10 police cars were there. It happened right outside Edmonton County School.”

The air ambulance arrived at around 3.10pm, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no further details known about him at this stage.

Bus routes 217, 231 and 377 are still subject to diversions and delays. Those travelling are urged to avoid the area for the time being.

It is the second collision on the Great Cambridge Road today, after a lorry and a car crashed on the M25 between junctions 25 and 26.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 2.45pm on Wednesday, 10 February to reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the southbound A10 near the junction of Trinity Avenue, Enfield. London Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

“The pedestrian, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3.12pm.

“Enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and inform next of kin.

“The lorry stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests, and enquiries continue.”
