A children’s hospice are this week making a concerted drive to get more people to volunteer.

Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green, which cares for patients from across north London including Enfield, says it needs more help in order to expand and care for more families.

Throughout this week more than 160 volunteers from investment bank Citi have volunteered, transforming the grounds into a Mad Hatters Tea Party for families of Haven House to coincide with the Queen’s on Saturday, June 11.

Mike Palfreman, chief executive of Haven House, said each year around 300 volunteers get involved, but they always need more help.

He said: “We rely on volunteers to help in a variety of different ways, for example in one of our shops or helping us at a fundraising event.

“You could help to place our Red House collection boxes in local businesses and shops. We also look for people who can help us connect with schools and community groups to help distribute flyers and raise the profile of our events.

“The volunteering opportunities are endless and by giving your time, even a couple of hours a month, you can help make a big difference to life-limited children and their families.”
