The London Overground line running through Crouch End, Harringay and South Tottenham will close for five months from this weekend.

The line, which runs through Haringey between Gospel Oak and Barking, has run using two-carriage diesel trains, but is being upgraded by TfL so the standard four-car, electric Overground services can operate.

It has already been fully shut between South Tottenham and Barking since Saturday, June 4, and on the entire line at weekends.

However, from September 24 until February 2017, no trains at all will run on the line.

Two replacement bus services will run and stop at stations -  Route T, between Walthamstow Central and Barking every 15 minutes on weekdays, and every 20 minutes at weekends and bank holidays, while Route J will operate between Gospel Oak and Seven Sisters every quarter of an hour Monday to Friday, and every half an hour on Saturday and Sunday.

Buses will not call between South Tottenham and Walthamstow Queen’s Road, as TfL say the Victoria line between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central would be a quicker route.

Seven Sisters is a five-minute walk from South Tottenham, while Walthamstow Central is a ten-minute walk from Queen’s Road. Neither Victoria line stations have step free access.

TfL say regular users of the Gospel Oak to Barking line will be refunded the extra cost of travel via zone 1 by Tube or rail, if they need to use a different route, and it will automatically be sent to registered Oyster cards. Extra bus journeys won't be refunded.
