More than a hundred fake Viagra pills have been seized by Enfield Council after a sting operation at a barber shop.

The raid on Friday, September 23, involving sniffer dogs used by trading standards and customs officers, uncovered unlicensed erectile dysfunction medication at the barber’s, which the council has not named in case it “prejudices possible future prosecutions”.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said there was no way of checking if the pills have been made to safe medical standards.

He said: “Selling unlicensed medicines is not only illegal, but poses a serious health risk.

“Though I appreciate that such products offered in this way may appear tempting, please don't be fooled.

"These criminals are not interested in your health - just your money. Taking any unlicensed medical products in this way is a risk just not worth taking.”
