Enfield Water Polo Club finished their Middlesex League campaign in third place after a 13-12 win over Ealing at Southgate.

Rob Lucas struck two early goals for Enfield to give the hosts an ideal start, but Ealing replied almost immediately with four goals of their own to take the lead.

However, Andy Rolle and Costas Chamalidis both scored to pull Enfield level at 4-4.

The second quarter saw Ealing re-take the lead with a further four strikes, but Enfield’s Charlie Briers (2) was on-form from close range and Rob Lucas and Rob Threadgold drew the hosts level at 8-8.

A red flag dismissal in the third quarter saw the visitors go down to seven and Enfield took advantage.

Goals from Rolle, Threadgold and Andy Poore pushed the outfit in front 11-9, but three shots from the six metre mark put Ealing back in front.

Lucas dragged Enfield level once more, before Briers added two more with just over a minute remaining.

In the London League, Enfield will play-off against Division Two side Beckenham for promotion. Having finished as runners-up to Watford in Division Three, Enfield will now take on the second-bottom side in the division above. The game is scheduled for Monday, December 1 at Beacontree Leisure Centre.
