Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino says the League Cup final against Chelsea is an opportunity for Spurs to create something special.

A brace from Christian Eriksen - including an 88th-minute equaliser - dragged Spurs to Wembley last night following a dramatic 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane.

And the White Hart Lane side will now face Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in their first League Cup final in six years after a nervy 3-2 aggregate win over the League One side.

The Dane struck a sweet free-kick to open the scoring before substitute Che Adams scored twice in as many minutes to pull the Blades level on aggregate.

But as so often this season, Eriksen got Spurs out of jail at the death, deftly slotting a left-footed shot beyond United goalkeeper Mark Howard to set up a date with Chelsea at Wembley on March 1.

Speaking to the club's website, Pochettino said: "I’m very proud. I know it’s important to get to the final and I’m happy for everyone. We want to develop our style and create something special and this is our opportunity.

"I have to congratulate our players and our supporters, they were brilliant tonight," said Mauricio. "I’m happy for them and happy for everyone who loves Tottenham."

The Argentine continued: "It was a difficult game but I think if you analyse the two matches we deserved to go through to the final.

"Football can change quickly. When you dominate the game, create chances and don’t give the opposition the opportunity to create chances, then you need to kill the game.

"After that, everything changed and we gave the opponent the opportunity to come back into the game. At that point it’s not tactical, not physical, but emotional. Everything is possible at that time."
