Brimsdown left it late to extend their unbeaten run to 15 league and cup matches, eking out a narrow 1-0 win at Tring Corinthians in the Spartan South Midlands Division Two on Saturday.

There were debuts for new signings Junior Fatai-Somuyiwa and Trae Gabriel, signed following the recent departures of three players to Enfield Town. Fatai-Somuyiwa occupied the left wing, while Gabriel started in the centre of midfield next to his older cousin Ralston Gabriel.

The Limers enjoyed most of the early possession but struggled to create any real chances. Tring Corinthians came closest to opening the scoring in the first half with a header that appeared destined for the bottom corner until it was expertly pushed to safety by goalkeeper Harry Barfoot.

Ralston Gabriel almost opened the scoring after the break but saw an excellent effort from 25 yards tipped over the bar after five second-half minutes.

Again The Limers had the majority of the possession but the quality of the final ball was lacking. As the half wore on Tring Corinthians started to look increasingly dangerous on the break. The home side began to commit more players forward in order to try to end Brimsdown's impressive unbeaten run.

In response, manager Marvin Walker made two changes, introducing Eli-Amir Ibrahim and Aaron Archer. And the changes paid dividends, injecting the energy the Limers needed in order to find a winner.

As the clock ran down it was one way traffic, with Brimsdown continuously attacking. In the 88th minute Tring cracked under pressure. A player handled the ball inside his own area and Brimsdown were awarded a penalty.

Alfie Hatch stepped up to take but his spot kick was saved; Brimsdown's chance appeared to have passed them by.

But as the game entered injury time Ola Akinwande produced a moment of magic to settle the contest. Akinwande picked up the ball on the edge of the area and side stepped two Tring players before crashing the ball home for a dramatic last-gasp winner.
