West Bromwich Albion have confirmed they have rejected a second bid from Tottenham Hotspur for prized asset Saido Berahino.

Last Tuesday the Baggies released a statement to say they had turned down an offer from Spurs before another announcement followed on Monday to reveal Berahino's transfer request had been quashed.

Now Albion chairmain Jeremy Peace has turned down a second bid for the England Under-21 striker, who scored 14 Premier League goals, and 20 in all competitions, last season.

A statement on the club's website read:

"West Bromwich Albion can today confirm the club have rejected a second offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Saido Berahino.

"Albion chairman Jeremy Peace said: 'Our position remains unchanged. The sale of this player is not on our agenda.'"

The Burundi-born 22-year-old has not featured for Tony Pulis' side since their goalless draw at Watford on the second weekend of the Premier League season.

He has subsequently been left out of the matchday squad for Sunday's defeat by Chelsea and Tuesday's League Cup shoot-out win over Port Vale.

Berahino's form last season earned him his first England call-up but he failed to get off the bench during a friendly against Scotland or a 2016 European Championships qualifier with Slovenia. He has scored ten times in 13 caps for the Under-21 side.
