Newcastle United have submitted a £21 million bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, a long-term target for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old trained with his West Brom teammates this morning but left training early after suffering a knock, not because of a potential departure from The Hawthorns.

Spurs had several bids knocked back in the summer with the Baggies adamant they wouldn't sell the England international.

However, Premier League strugglers Newcastle United have now submitted a club-record offer of £21 million.

Berahino has fallen out of favour at Albion, making just eight Premier League starts for Tony Pulis' side and scoring three goals.
